It's September 1st and there are several projects on the horizon.

Later this month, I'll be involved in a new musical workshop titled WHITE NOISE directed by Sergio Trujillo, (JERSEY BOYS, NEXT TO NORMAL). This show is based on the true story of two teen girls who become pop stars spreading the word of white supremacy. A daring project...

Then later this Fall, I'll be starring in another musical workshop called WILD CAT which starred Lucille Ball years earlier in the original production on Broadway. I'm delighted to be stepping into those shoes!

February & March 2011 will be taking me to Europe, Slovakia to be exact, the homeland of my ancestry. I'll be pairing up with the talented group Tango Ultimo to perform several concerts, "Latin style". Featuring songs from my latest CD Krazy Love, combined with performances of Classic Tangos by Tango Ultimo, these concerts are sure to please.

And of course, the one - woman show is still in progress...stay tuned!

Dates for the above projects coming soon....

Review: CLO's 'Hairspray' delights in good vibes, humor

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

"Hairspray" is a musical about big hair, big hips and big hearts.

The Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera production that runs through Aug. 1 adds a fourth "H": a big hit.

The animated, energized cast, swiftly paced directing and lively dance numbers create a show that sparkles with good vibes and abundant humor.

The musical adaptation of John Waters' 1988 cult film returns to 1962 Baltimore, when televised teenage dance-party shows were the equivalent of reality TV, bouffant hair was literally and figuratively big, and racial segregation was legally enforced.

Currently in rehearsals in Pittsburgh

JULY '10  -  Currently in rehearsals in Pittsburgh for the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera's production of HAIRSPRAY. I'm running into so many people I've worked with in past nice to see familiar faces! It's been a while since I've done a musical and there's nothing like getting back on that ol' horse again. I'm playing Velma Von Tussle (first time), in HAIRSPRAY, the racist producer who is pushing her daughter towards the stardom she never had. What a mouth on this on this woman! Such a great role to play.   After this run, I'm back in NY to begin rehearsals for Paul Simon's musical THE CAPEMAN at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. HEY NY,  I'M BACK!!!!!!!!

In between these projects, I'm in the process of working on my one-woman show with the new album attached to it. Quite the cathardic process...I'll keep you posted as it progresses.

And congrats to Spain on the World Cup! First time winners!
