7/31 American Horror Story

Nominated for 17 Emmy Awards!!!
I have been following this series since day one and couldn't believe more people weren't talking about it. Well, I guess people are talking now!!! What a fabulous role for veteran Jessica Lange. Always been a BIG fan of hers and hope to have a long successful career like she does. The series is a cliff hanger every episode. Written, shot and acted superbly. Tune in, catch up or rent it if you haven't been already!

6/2... the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh!!

Loved it and allow some time because there are 6 floors of Warhol to see! Every floor is worth seeing because you will see his process as an artist and innovator evolve and develop.

It was very exciting for me to see what went on in the inner workings of this man that made him so unique (and common), complex (and quite simple), famous (and infamous).

Warhol, (actually his real last name is Warhola -a first generation Slovak like myself) was born in Pittsburgh. The museum is located on a deserted block in a fitting cold, grey, industrial setting.

4/25: "I'd like to highly recommend PIPPIN on B'way which opens tonight!!

First rate production, fresh and rediscovered, not a weak link in the entire show, music has been elevated and re-arranged to take a new listen.
Andrea Martin will shock the hell out of you!
You heard it here before the reviews come out tomorrow!!!"

Picnic at the Roundabout

See it before it closes on Sunday!

William Inge's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Picnic returns to Broadway in a striking new production helmed by acclaimed director Sam Gold (Roundabout’s Look Back in Anger, Seminar). Academy Award® winner Ellen Burstyn stars alongside theatre veterans Reed Birney (The Dream of the Burning Boy) and Elizabeth Marvel (Other Desert Cities), rising stars Maggie Grace (“Lost”) and Sebastian Stan (“Gossip Girl”), Emmy® Award winner Mare Winningham (recently seen in Tribes), Madeleine Martin (August: Osage County) and Ben Rappaport (Hope Springs). Through February 24.

Luba says "Run, don't walk, to see this beautiful play w/ an equally stunning, moving cast! Reed Birne, does not disappoint, and Mare and Ellen Burstyn are just solid. Closing Feb. 24th!!"

Luba recommends the Panama Jazz Festival

My first recommendation is the Panama Jazz Festival which takes place in Panama City each year thanks to the Fundación Danilo Pérez. This year's artists are Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, John Patitucci, Brian Blade, Bill Frisell, Susana Baca, Danilo Perez, and Rubén Blades.
sat in on Danilo's and Ruben's rehearsal for Saturday and Danilo was so dynamic in conducting the rehearsal with the student band who'll be playing. Songs include new arrangements of Patria, Mack the Knife, Pedro Navaja and Skylark.
