Another show Tuesday night stars Slovakian American sensation Luba Mason performing with singer Ruben Blades (her husband) and jazz bass player Jimmy Haslip (The Yellowjackets) at Blues Alley (8 and 10 p.m.).
Jazz Times says Luba Mason has "A voice as big and rich as a star-filled night sky." Her lovely new Latin CD, "Krazy Love," celebrates the music of Brazil.
Mason is a classically trained singer who right out of the conservatory sang for Broadway producer Tommy Tune in "The Will Rogers Follies" and for British mega-producer-director Trevor Nunn in the American premiere of "Sunset Blvd." Luba Mason was picked by Paul Simon for a featured role in his show "The Capeman" and she stared in other staged hits such as "Chicago" (with Brooke Shields) and "Jekyll & Hyde." On television, Luba Mason has been seen in "Law & Order," "NYPD Blue" and "New York Undercover."
